Guru Shri. Varshaji

Guru Shri. Varshaji, popularly known as “Simmam Kumar” is an ardent disciple and student of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Padma Vibushan Dr. Shri. M. Balamuralikrishna and Dr. Shri. Abhayambika and has spent his entire youth with their family. He learned Carnatic vocal and music from Shri. Balamuralikrishna and Hindustani Music from Dr. Shri. Abhayambika.

Guru. Shri. Varshaji spent his young days as a “Music Critic” with the popular media “Dinamani” and has critiqued and appraised thousands of songs, including leading artists. He had an exclusive column in Dinamani and some of his reviews can be seen here… (Include paper cuttings and images).

He has been blessed to be a sishya and ardent devotee of Kanchi Shri Mahaperiyava, His Holiness Shri. Chandrashekara Saraswati Swamigal. He has performed numerous on-stage concerts, including special concerts at many auspicious temples and places of worship. His album “Pushpanjali” on Pondicherry Mother was appreciated by many of Mother’s disciples and was also reviewed and honored by India today magazine. He has assisted and played pivotal role in many of his Guru’s concerts and events, including Music refresher course conducted by Annamalai University’s Music College. Many leading Music Professors and veterans from various Music Universities/Colleges from across India attended this event and blissful course conducted by Annamalai University.

He has conducted more than 50 Concerts in Thiruppugazh, Thiruvembavai and Prabhandams across various auspicious temples and sarchangams. He is also an extremely passionate interviewer and always fills up his bag of knowledge from various performers and achievers. In 1997-98, he had interviewed our nation’s precious gem, Oscar award winner Padmashri. A.R. Rehman and the interview were published in Tamizhan Express.
